Advanced Placement Music Theory Test Preparation

Advanced Placement Music Theory (AP Music Theory) is an examination offered by the College Board as part of the Advanced Placement Program to high school students who wish to earn credit for a college level music theory course.

Rocklin Music Academy offers a 12 week prep session for the AP Music Theory Exam. The curriculum includes sight reading, in-depth terminology, musical phrasing and musical composition, music history, chord structure, cadences, and other areas of music theory. This course is recommended for students with particularly strong abilities in music, or students planning to pursue college music majors.

This class is limited to high school students who have completed their Freshman year. While dual enrollment with a music class at our Academy is highly recommended, it is not required to sign up for this class. Instruction is available on-line or in-person in a limited capacity.
